journeying as a family in obedience
The Lee Family's journey began in 2007, when Rachel responded to an altar call for One Life One Year (OLOY) candidates on Missions Sunday. Upon graduation from university, she went to Timor-Leste as part of the pioneer One Life One Year (OLOY) team sent in 2009, while Guanwen supported her from Singapore. When she returned to Singapore in 2010, God gave her a clear vision to return to TL and serve long term, but to wait upon His timing.
As Guan Wen and Rachel prepared for marriage, God convicted them both of his calling to TL as a family, and to trust Him in a season of waiting. They have thus spent the past 14 years serving in various ministries across Pathmakers, Alpha, Girls Brigade, and being part of the Timor missions anchor team.
This season of waiting has allowed them to build and maintain strong relationships and journey with many inland missionaries, partners and local believers - virtually or in person during the multiple trips they made to TL. Their Timorese friends have seen them at various stages of family life β from singlehood, engagement, newly married, expecting their 1st child, and most recently, with their two little ones. (Esther and Estelle) on the ground in August 2023.

Both Rachel and Guan Wen have been blessed by God's direction and favour in their corporate work as well, ensuring that the practical skillsets they have gained are directly relevant to TL's needs.
In 2021, with COVID on the forefront, God led them to begin preparations to return to Timor Leste. This was confirmed in mid-2022 when Renovar operations expanded significantly, albeit with limited manpower onsite.
The Lee Family will be assisting our church partner missionaries, the Guerreiro family, in the daily operations of Renovar Foundation, as well as helming the expansion and construction project to move Renovar to a larger, permanent location.
Rachel & Guan Wen share, "Our thanksgiving is that God's always been leading us step by step as we journeyed in obedience. We desire for His presence to always be with us as He brings us to a new land, and for us to always lean on Him when the going gets tough. Please pray for our new season as a family and for the little ones to adapt well."
