Reminiscence and Spirituality (REST): Meaningful Conversation with Seniors living with Dementia
Do you have a loved one living with dementia? Do you wish that they could experience the warmth and comfort of Jesus through your interactions with them?
Reminiscence involves looking back on past events, people and places. The Meaningful Conversation Workshop employs the use of reminiscence arts to engage persons with dementia, including those with little and no speech. In reminiscence arts, we use objects, music, dance, drawings, photographs and etc, to trigger memories with the aid of our senses. These include sight, touch, sound, smell and taste.
In this workshop, you will learn the biblical principles of engaging persons living with dementia and acquire skills to communicate and relate meaningfully with them. Bring along an item that brings back a fond memory for you and/or your loved ones, and let’s have a conversation around it!
Whether you're a caregiver, or supporting a caregiver, let's come together to also give thanks for the joys and struggles of this journey. Light refreshments will be provided.
