Last September I went on a mission trip with a team of students from Cru Singapore to teach refugee children at a learning centre! During the trip, we played games with the children, and taught English, Maths, Science and values-based lessons from the Bible. One of my biggest highlights was seeing the children so happy to see us play with and teach them!

Our team!
Before the trip, our team had planned and prepared the lessons and resources we would be teaching for the four days we were there. However on our first day, we realised that most of the topics we had chosen were things the children were already familiar with. This left us scrambling to source for other materials that would be more appropriate for them. Thankfully, we managed to plan new, fun and engaging ways to teach our various lessons.

Engaging and teaching the children
One of the key lessons I learnt during this trip was through experiencing the faithfulness of God. From the day I knew I was going for the mission trip, God has been faithfully providing for me in many areas of my life. When I was unsure about my fundraising for the trip, God provided people that I didn't expect to contribute financially, When our ideas seemed to fall short and my anxiousness began to take over, I surrendered it to God and saw how He began to provide assurance and peace over the situation, one step at a time, and guided me through the process of refining the ideas and teaching materials.

Small group devotions during the trip
Often times, we imagine missions as something that is very big and scary. And I agree, it can seem very different from what we are used to here in Singapore. However, Jesus says that we are the salt and light of the world and sometimes that requires us to step out of our comfort zone and step into where God is leading.
Through my experience on this mission trip, I have begun to be thankful and grateful for the things that we have in Singapore that many who are less fortunate donβt even have access to. I thank God for bringing me through this experience and revealing more of His heart for the lost to me.
