Missions Leadership in WEFC

On 1 October, I took up the Missions Pastor role at WEFC once again! The past 1-2 months have been joyful and purpose-filled, reconnecting with missionaries, leaders, and partners β€” both within the church and among the larger missions community. Many things have changed in WEFC, as they should, and yet I rejoice that so much about friendships and the passion for God's mission is the same!

The time I've been spending with various WEFC missions leaders in this handover period has been fruitful and mutually encouraging. We are streamlining our church's missions leadership structure. The Missions Leadership Team (MLT) has handed over all missions leadership responsibilities to Elder Michael Lee as Missions Chairman and me as Missions Pastor. The MLT will step down fully on 31 Dec 2025. Do pray for Elder Michael and me as we take up this privilege and responsibility, and give thanks to God for the MLT members Andy Chong, Jason Lim, Jimmy Won, and Julian Thumboo who have served in this period.
The Missions Leadership Team (MLT) has handed over all missions leadership responsibilities to Elder Michael and Pastor Ivan (Missions Chairman and Missions Pastor); and will step down on 31 Dec 2025.
The Missions Board has been renamed to the Missions Committee to better reflect its function as a Church Board Committee and to be more consistent with other Committees in our church. The name change does not alter the function nor terms of the Missions Committee.

Thus, the Missions Committee, Missions Core Team and Anchor Team structures remain unchanged but a number of people are moving. From 2026 onwards, Elder Michael and I will lead missions with other Missions Committee members Chia Sin Cheng, Jimmy Won, and Julian Thumboo. Other members are stepping down at the end of 2025 β€” Andy Chong, Angeline Teoh, and Jason Lim. We thank them for their years of faithful service and ministry.

The Missions Core Team and Anchor Teams will continue to support our missionaries, organize missions trips and coordinate events in the church. Loh Choong Seng remains as local outreach, liaising with Woodlands Social Centre, but he will also be serving in missions as he has done in the past, while taking up increasing missions leadership in the church.

I just returned from Timor-Leste on 16 Nov after spending a week there with Guanwen, Rachel, Esther and Estelle. I am filled with much thankfulness and have written an update of what is happening regarding Renovar and the Lee Family's ministry. Felicia Teoh has also written an excellent trip report on Vietnam as we are also considering next steps for that mission field. Do read these updates in Window to the World and pray with us.

I look forward to what God will be doing through our church in this next season!

Blessings,
Ivan Liew, Missions Pastor
