What we did
WEFC welcomed 163 visitors to our English services in 2024. Of these, 33 began to worship at WEFC regularly with about 12 newcomers subsequently being plugged into adult and YAY LCGs. Nine of these newcomers came to receive Christ and four were baptised into our church.
72 visitors attended our Mandarin Services last year. Of these, 25 have stayed on to worship regularly with us, and three come intermittently. One moved to the English congregation while six, who came to visit family, have returned to their home countries.
OUTREACH
This is a snapshot of how God grew our WEFC family in 2024. We give thanks for the ministry of the 17-member English and 14-member Chinese Welcome Teams who faithfully engaged with newcomers every week to welcome, pray with and connect our new friends to other parts of the WEFC family.
WEFCers also exercised their faith to bring friends and loved ones to Christ. Through three runs of Christianity Explored (CEx), we served 29 WEFCers and 26 guests. The youngest participant who prayed to receive Christ was 12 years old and the oldest was 76! We formed a CEx core team and recruited a stable team of facilitators who, after training and experiencing 1-2 runs themselves, have decided to commit to CEx as their main outreach ministry. Praise God for how He is moving to call the lost to Himself through WEFC!

Christianity Explored for Believers
In 2024, we also began Christianity Explored for Believers (CEx4B) with 19 participants in the inaugural run. This is part of our efforts to equip every WEFCer to make personal evangelism an integral part of our discipleship. The ethos remains “Follow us as we follow Christ”. Participants at CEx4B had divinely-appointed opportunities for hands-on practice and shared the gospel with both family and friends. A few went on to serve on the ministry team during the Christmas Evangelistic services to engage with those who responded to the altar calls. Others are being intentional about how they now engage with community through Connect@806 and other WSC platforms.
Midway through 2024, Little Olive Tree was moved from the purview of Outreach Ministry to Children’s Ministry. Before this shift, the Friends of Little Olive Tree team organised a workshop on “How to Choose a Primary School?” which gave us an opportunity to connect personally with four parents from three families. A small group of seven mothers also met on Friday mornings to intercede for their children and the school. This Moms-in-Prayer group will continue in 2025.
Our LOT Moms-In-Prayer group
By God’s grace, 2025 will be a year of more harvest so that we will see God bring us a step closer to our goal of 200 new believers by 2028!
WSC OUTREACH
Woodlands Social Centre experienced God’s favour in 2024. We started our monthly food distribution for residents of Block 806 in January. By the end of the year, 42 regular and 70 adhoc volunteers from WEFC had engaged with a monthly average of 57 families through Connect@806. The work has gone beyond food distribution to include engaging residents in conversation at the kopi corner and children’s activities. One highlight was the Childen’s Carnival in October which brought 96 families (288 pax) from the community, WSC’s corporate partners and 132 volunteers from WEFC together for a fun day!

We officially launched the Televisit Centre on 6 September 2024 in partnership with the Singapore Prison Services. Through this platform, 15 WEFC volunteers have committed to connect with families disrupted by incarceration.
The WSC-WEFC partnership grew stronger with stronger alignment at the board level and with greater involvement by WEFCers who responded to the call to be involved with community outreach through WSC. We are thankful to our dedicated volunteers for their passion and love for the community of Woodlands. Stepping up towards new initiatives with courage and faith to serve His purposes is truly an encouraging experience.

Impacting young lives through the T.H.R.I.V.E. Programme
Moving into 2025, we will continue to build on the Connect@806 and Televisit Centre initiatives begun in 2024, and plan to launch T.H.R.I.V.E., a mentoring programme for young people. We look forward to more intentional relationships and divine appointments to share the love of Christ with families and children in Woodlands.
MISSIONS
In 2024, WEFC commissioned two families as church missionaries — Titus and Ginny Lau to Kurdistan through Habibi International and Lee Guan Wen, Rachel and their two daughters Estelle and Esther, to Timor Leste through Pioneers Asia. They join Louis and Christina Lau, and Leonard and Bettina Leow as WEFC’s career missionaries. Through our One Life One Year (OLOY) program, Loh Choong Seng served in Bangkok through OMF, Felicia Yong in Vietnam with our partner church there, and Veon in Timor Leste with Care Channels International. WEFC also sent out nine short-term missions teams throughout the year.

Mission trip to Japan in February

Sending off the Lee family at Changi Airport in June

Batam mission team went up in August

Timor Leste medical mission team that went up in September

In September, we also sent a team up to Vietnam
In October 2024, the Missions Leadership Team (MLT) was formed to meet the growing missions needs in each of our four designated fields - Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and Timor Leste). This is a significant move as it responds to God’s desire for us to reach the nations intentionally.
Together with Simply Mobilising Singapore, we ran a Chinese Interface Missions program and The Unfinished Story (TUS). We also ran a missional arts workshop to introduce members to see God at work through creative mediums. 18 WEFCers attended Antioch 21, a national missions conference.

All in all, 2024, was a full and enriching year for missions.
BOYS' BRIGADE
On 3 July, we received the request from the Boys’ Brigade (BB) Headquarters and Fuchun Secondary School to close the 44th Company Boys’ Brigade. This was a decision made by the new school leadership as part of their plans for the merger of Fuchun and Woodlands Ring Secondary School in 2025. As the possibility of this move was made known to us early, we did not recruit any new boys in January 2024. The remaining nine Boys continued their weekly parade on Saturdays until the March school holidays.
We thank God for raising $10,610 through the WEFC family during BB week in March 2024. We also thank God for providing both faithful volunteers and financial resources through WEFC for the last 14 years to reach the boys at Fuchun Secondary School. Praise God for the boys who, through BB, received Christ and found a spiritual family in WEFC and other churches in Woodlands. All glory to God for leading WEFC to first take over the 44th Company Boys’ Brigade from Adam Road Presbyterian in November 2010 and seeing it through till this closing chapter.
Where we are going
We thank God for the good progress we’ve made in 2024. In 2025, we ask God for:
- Each WEFC to be obedient to the call to be fishers-of-men. We want to see 200 new believers come into God’s Kingdom by 2028
- A dedicated team that will bear fruit at Connect@806
- Favour as we launch T.H.R.I.V.E. and explore new platforms to serve our Woodlands community
- A passionate involvement of WEFCers in missions through short-term mission trips
